In 2025, we introduced an exciting new wellbeing tool with our Years 5-8 students.
At Te Kura o te Tauawa Halswell school, our vision is for every child to Learn to Thrive. A key part of this is supporting their wellbeing – one of our core pou – so that every learner feels seen, safe, and supported. Linewize Pulse, is a wellbeing check-in tool developed by Linewize, to help us stay more closely connected to how our Year 5–8 students are feeling at school.
Pulse is a quick, weekly check-in that students complete every Thursday. It gives them an easy, regular opportunity to share how they’re feeling emotionally, physically, and socially. The data gathered from these check-ins will help us respond to individual students who may need extra support and identify wider trends on how we can improve the school experience for everyone.
This is not an anonymous survey. Each student’s responses are visible to staff, who can follow up directly if a student indicates they are not feeling okay. This gives us real-time insight into student well-being and helps build a culture where it’s normal to ask for help and talk about how we feel.
Using Pulse aligns with our commitment to wellbeing as one of the foundations of learning. When students feel connected, valued, and supported, they are better able to thrive in their learning and friendships.
